I recently had a chance to ask Ingrid some questions ahead of the event. I wanted to share those with you.
1.What is the first thing you tell parents who come to you?
(INGRID) Healthy sleep habits can be taught at any age no matter what has been taking place. Parents are typically worried that their children are too old to learn healthy sleep habits but it’s never too late. My youngest client has been one day old and my oldest client was 71 years old.
2.How do you feel being a trail blazer in this industry?
(INGRID) I have not really thought about myself in that way. Given the opportunities I have been given, I guess one can say that I am making strides that others before me have not been able to make. I am grateful for the opportunities that have come my way because it allows me to share my sleep mission. It’s my mission to help everyone learn the importance of sleep and why they should make it a priority for themselves and their loved ones.
Most of society takes sleep for granted. Study after study proves how our health is impacted without sleep yet we continue to push our body limits over and over again.
3. You are bilingual? How does that help you reach more individuals?
(INGRID) It’s been a gift to be bilingual and I, of course, have my parents and extended family for that. I was born in Guatemala and came to the U.S. when I was a year and a half old. I am a Spaniard and American citizen. It’s really been an honor to help families globally. Speaking Spanish has given me the ability to spread my message to families . I have worked with spanish speaking families in Latin America, Europe and those located in the U.S. The sleep epidemic is not only isolated to the American culture, it’s really a global issue.
4. What are key strategies that you give parents?
(INGRID) It’s important when taking the time to teach your child to sleep to make the process a priority.
1) Look at your calendar and carve out two to three weeks to focus on helping your child become a better sleeper. This means no social engagements that might interfere with having your child sleep in their sleep environment day and night.
2) Parents need to set time to discuss their sleep plan. It’s important that all caretakers are on the same page. If a child is in daycare, the same expectations cannot be expected but it is recommended that you discuss what is taking place at home and see if they can implement any of it on their end as well.
3) Consistency is key to helping our children become great sleepers. If we are insecure about how we are teaching them and toggle between one strategy and the next, we are only confusing our child at the end of the day.
4) Choose a plan that resonates with your parenting philosopy
5) If you are not secure in your plan to teach your child to sleep, consider hiring a sleep consultant. A sleep consultant should help you create a plan that is based on your parenting philosophy and coach you through the sleep teaching process.
5. Are you looking for Brand Ambassadors to help you promote this awareness?
INGRID) Absolutely! Sleep is the foundation of health. It’s important for anyone at any age to have healthy sleep habits. Sleep deprivation is an epidemic. Sleep deprivation impacts us our mental and physical capacities no matter how old we are. Those suffering from sleep deprivation cannot cope with stress, make bad food choices, are at risk for developing mental issues such as depression, ADHD etc. My mission is to spread the word on establishing healthy sleep habits no matter how old you are and what your habits have been. It’s important to remember that our children mimic our actions, we must practice what we preach so our children can grow up with this foundation.
I also was given the opportunity to try out bedgear’s Dri-Tec performance sheet set. The sheets are made of 100% polyester. The sidewall of the fitted sheet consists of 92% polyester and 8% spandex. This combination of materials works to create an elastic band feel around the mattress. Bedgear sheets have one large elastic band covering the entire mattress. The powerband was implemented to avoid rising fitted sheets throughout the night and ensure a tight fit to your mattress.
The Dri-Tec sheets work to wick away heat and moisture from the body. While some sheet sets retain heat and create a warmer night’s sleep, the Dri-Tec sheets dissipate the heat and help to circulate air. The sheets work to scatter the heat so there is never any build up at one point on your body.
I hope you will check out all of bedgear‘s products on their website. Also please attend the event and learn more from Ingrid. Attached is the invite for the event.
